Studio Cycling
Teacher:  Brooke Mallory

A great cardio workout class on stationary bikes with a guided “ride” that focus on heart rate, cadence and zones. Sprints, hills and flat work that can make an unpredictable ride that is fun and challenging. Each bike has its own controls and the “rider” is in charge of the intensity of the workout. A great calorie burner and muscle toner with minimal impact on the body!

Great for all abilities.

What Is Studio Cycling?

Studio Cycling or Spinning classes are performed on racing type bikes in a group setting. The classes are taught by certified cycling instructors, who take you through a simulated outdoor workout. During the cycling class, the pace and intensity of the pedaling varies just as if you were cycling outdoors, up and down hills. You may also be required to pedal as fast as you can, while at other times you may be asked to increase the tension and pedal at a slower pace from a standing position.

Studio cycling provides participants with a structured and controlled exercise class, where you can still work at your own pace but be motivated by the instructor and other class members. Cycling is a non impact or weight baring exercise that caters to a wide variety of members including individuals that are going through rehab programs, the elderly, and obese.

Studio classes are approximately 45 to 60 minutes in length and an average person will burn roughly 450 to 600 calories. Cycling does not only burn calories but it also increases the body’s basic metabolic rate, which in turn burns more fat. Cycling also assists in muscle toning or definition and muscular strength for power or endurance. Furthermore this aerobic program is great for toning and shaping the inner and outer thighs, buttocks and calves.
